Emeri Nikolai
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Welcome! My name is Emri Nikolai and I am a Master’s level clinician and a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern. I am currently under the supervision of Rebecca Maxwell, LMFT. 

 

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Auburn University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Palm Beach Atlantic University. My population focus in counseling is mostly children and adolescents, where I hope to address challenges throughout the early stages of life and help clients to heal where it is needed. Ultimately, my main goal is to give children and adolescents the tools they need to navigate obstacles in the future, as well as comfort parents who may be experiencing distress as they hope to help their children. While I have the most experience working with children and adolescents, I truly have a heart for all ages. I would sincerely love to walk alongside anyone navigating trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I hope to lead with empathy and create an environment for each individual to feel safe and heard. 

 

My therapeutic approach involves Play Therapy techniques, as well as Adlerian theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I aim for a collaborative therapeutic relationship, working with the client to identify thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through collaboration, I hope to help clients understand their cognitive processes and create goals to strategize and achieve. 

 

I believe that therapy can bridge the gap between hurt and healing as a vessel for the Lord’s purpose. I have the opportunity to serve creation by inviting the Lord into a room full of anxiety, depression, or pain and watch lives change. When clients are receptive, I would love to include a Biblical Perspective into our sessions. However, this is not required to receive professional and compassionate care as my client.
