Jessica Coe,        Student Intern

Hello, I’m Jess, a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern. I am a Graduate student at Liberty University where I also received my B.A. double-majoring in Christian Counseling and Psychology with an emphasis in Drugs and Addiction.

 

Before pursuing counseling, I served 8 years active duty as a Rescue Swimmer for the Navy. I was able to travel around the world, primarily in the Pacific where I also had one rescue and three MEDIVACS. My duty stations included San Diego, Guam, and Pensacola where I trained hundreds of rescue swimmer students and many staff my last three years active duty. I am still currently serving in the Navy Reserves as a loadmaster on Boeing 737’s.

Born in Nebraska, I joined the Navy after high school and had the opportunity to see many parts of the world and have many unique experiences. I met my husband in the Navy, and we now have a young daughter together. I have also served for various nonprofits including the Secret Place, which serves adolescents who have been
rescued from human trafficking.

I have experience in several counseling theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered Therapy, and Play Therapy. As an intern. I have experience working with a variety of individuals from young kids to older adults.

The human spirit is resilient, and I believe that there is hope for all people open to the idea of healing. Life is meant for more than just surviving and a full, thriving life is possible. I believe God has a plan to prosper and not to harm, to give you hope and a future.
